Trivamid (Sodium Fusidate 20mg)

ACTION:
Sodium fusidate is a steroidal antibiotic with a bacteriostatic or bactericidal activity mainly against gram positive bacteria. Sodium fusidate is very active against Staphylococci, notably
S. aureus and S. epidemis. Nocardia osteroides and many clotridial strains are also highly susceptible. The Streptococci and  Enterococci are less susceptible.

COMPOSITION:
Each 1g contains:
Active ingredient:  Sodium fusidate............................................20mg (potency)
Inactive ingredients: Liquid paraffin, white petrolatum, white bee wax, butylated hydroxyanisole, butylated hydroxytoluene

INDICATIONS:
For treatment of skin lessions primary or secondary infected with Staphylococci, Streptococci, Corynebacterium minutissimum, Propionibacterium acnes and other Sodium fusidate sensitive organisms, the most important indications are:
- Impetigo
- Infected wound
- Hydradenitis 
- Folliculitis
- Boil
- Paronychia
- Sycosis barbae
- Carbuncles
- Erythrasma 

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
Apply to affected area twice to 3 times/day for 7 days. It can be used without a covering  dressing.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Patients hypersensitive to Sodium fusidate, infection caused by non-susceptible organisms, in particularly pseudomonas aeruginosa.

ADVERSE REACTIONS:
Sodium fusidateis remarkedly well tolerated and there is an  eztremely low frequency of hypersensitivity reactions in the form of rashes, mild stinging and irritation on application reported.
* Inform your doctor in case of any adverse reactions related to drug use.

PRECAUTIONS:
Avoid contact with eyes.
Bacterial resistance  is reported to occur when this product is applied topically. As in all topical antibiotics, extended and recurrent use may increase the risk of contact sensitisation and development of antibiotics resistance.

ADMINISTRATION TO PREGNANT WOMEN & NURSHING MOTHER
For pregnancy: the risk to the infant versus benefits to the mother should be considered prior to use.
For lactation: safety in nursing mother has not been established.

STORAGE:
Preserve in light resistant and hermetic container at room temperature.

EXPIRY DATE:
03 years from manufacturing date.
Do not use if the drug is out of date.
